But here's the heart of the story: 10 years ago on April 20th Joe and I were driving in our then new F150 pickup to pick up Jenny from her just completed freshmen year at Pepperdine. All the way there we heard the terrible news of Columbine unfolding. We arrived on April 21st and had dinner with Jenny & Jane who had both completed their freshmen year at Pepperdine. It was really cool to all be together again 10 years later on my birthday, with the addition of Wes. Now:

Happy Birthday, Pat! I am so blessed to know you, and really, to be family with you through Jenny. I loved this post, too! Sounds like a very fun day yesterday!
Wes is so cute I cannot STAND it!!
And Pat, I think you must have a portrait turned toward the wall in your house because you haven't aged a bit since I last saw you like, um, 20 years ago?!
We were so happy to be able to wish you a happy birthday Pat- it is ALWAYS a pleasure to talk with you!
Happy Birthday, Pat! What a lovely way to celebrate. Katy's right: you haven't changed!
