Snow again. The snow was perfect for making a quick snowman this morning. When I came back from walking Louie, the snowman was leaning up against the railing... I think he was cold and wanted to figure out how to turn and walk up the steps to come inside..

Wine Tasting...

We hadn’t participated in an in house wine tasting dinner since our dear friends, Pascal & Christine, hosted an event in spring of 2007. Wow, time flies; now they’re living in Kuwait.

Last evening we all brought a bottle of cabernet sauvignon to go with the excellent meal that Cathy & Keith had prepared . The bottles were disguised in numbered brown paper bags and revealed at the end of the meal.

A little fact on our wine choice, Cabernet Sauvignon:
It is the most widely planted and significant among the five dominant varieties in the Medoc district of France's Bordeaux region, as well as the most successful red wine produced in California. Long thought to be an ancient variety, recent genetic studies at U.C. Davis have determined that Cabernet Sauvignon is actually the hybrid offspring of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc.

SNOW!!! 2/26/09

A day in the life of Louie in Tahuya :
1st he chases squirrels up trees: After the long hike uphill, he swims in the lake at the end of our hike:
shakes himself off:
gets a hug from me:
stops to look at the snow on the mountains:
enjoys the sunset:
Isn't a day in the life of a dog great?

The top photo was stolen from Jenny's camera. When I saw it I started laughing and when I showed it to Wesley, he laughed too.

Happy St. Valentine's Day

When I think of Valentine's Day I think of having a very nice meal at home or with friends - going out to a restuarant is just way too crowded; although we did go to a nice Peruvian restuarant in Kirkland last year (that is now closed).
Back on track - - this morning we woke up and I thought Crepes - so I made the batter and Joe made delicious crab filled crepes with Mornay sauce for breakfast. As I was cleaning up the kitchen we had a lovely surprise visit from Simon, Rebekah, Chris, & Levi (sleeping in car) Gough. Simon brought us Valentine heart shaped brownies. Too cute. There were 3 and Joe asked Simon if it was OK if he ate two, and I could have one. He shot his fist in the air and shouted, Yeah, right. Too cute.
